Sports development

Our sports, health and well-being development service seeks to make Eden more active, healthy and successful through sport and physical activity.

The general aim of the Sport and Active Recreation strategy is to increase participation and improve standards in sport and active recreation by enabling everyone in Eden to enjoy sport and physical activity as a part of everyday life.

We offer a range of programmes and activities to increase participation in sport and provide support and advice to sports clubs where required. We work with partners including Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), National Governing Bodies of Sport, School Sports Partnership and the County Sports Partnership to deliver and promote programmes of activity, coach education courses and competitions and events.

We are a member of the Cumbria Sport Partnership, which is one of 49 subregional partnerships operating across England, funded through Sport England. In partnership we commit to working together to increase the number of people participating in Sport and Physical Activity across Cumbria.

See the Active Cumbria website for more information.
