Sheltered housing

Sheltered Housing (or retirement housing) is accommodation designed specifically for older people. Schemes consist of self-contained properties (usually flats or bungalows which may be for rent of sale) with a scheme based or visiting scheme Manager. There is also access to 24 hour emergency call centre assistance. The benefits of sheltered housing include independence, privacy and security for residents.

Extra care housing

Extra Care (or very sheltered) housing provides an alternative to residential care for older people with higher support needs. Schemes consist of self-contained properties. Support is provided in the resident's own home. Extra care needs are typically met by an on-site care team who are on hand 24 hours a day.
