Designated Public Place Order
Changes to the Designated Public Place Order
The Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) automatically became a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in October 2017 under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
Consultation on changes to the existing PSPO
A consultation on a proposed new PSPO to replace the existing PSPO will start on 5 February. It is proposed that the new PSPO will not only cover Alston, Appleby, Penrith and Kirkby Stephen, but include Long Marton, Brampton and Crackenthorpe, to the north of Appleby and also Shap.
Take part in the Public Spaces Protection Order Consultation.
What does the order do?
The PSPO, like a DPPO, makes it an offence to drink alcohol in a public place after being required by a police officer not to do so.
Where are the existing orders in Eden?
