About Eden district
Eden is a local government district in Cumbria, England. Its council is based in Penrith. The district is named after the River Eden which flows north through the Eden Valley towards Carlisle. Within the district lies part of the Lake District National Park. Under Defra's definition of rural, all towns (except Penrith), villages and hamlets in Eden are described as 'rural sparse' and 'rural less sparse'. Penrith is not considered rural but is classified as 'urban sparse'.
