Dog control orders general information

The Dog Control Orders were introduced in 2008 in accordance with section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005. They enable us to react quickly to problems resulting from irresponsible dog ownership.

The three Dog Control Orders

If you commit an offence under any of the provisions of these Dog Control Orders you may be issued with a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice or be liable, upon conviction in the Magistrates Court, for a fine of up to £1000.

Who will enforce them?

Our Community Wardens, Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers are all authorised to issue Fixed Penalty Notices.

Will signs be erected to identify Dog Control Order areas?

Only in problem areas, if you have a dog fouling problem in your area we can supply more signs.
