New councillors for Hartside and Skelton announced following local elections

The results of Eden’s local elections have been announced. After the votes were counted earlier today (Friday), the results were as follows:

The new district councillor for the Hartside Ward is Raymond Briggs, Conservative.

The new district councillor for the Skelton Ward is Colin Atkinson, Conservative.

The new Penrith town councillor for the Penrith Pategill Ward is Valerie Bowen, Liberal Democrat.

The four new Alston parish councillors for the Alston Moor Ward are: Brian Desmond Davies (Independent); Norman Bradley English; Steven Walter Edward Hattersley; and Raymond Miller.

The count for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria takes place on Monday 10 May 2021.

Election Day went ahead on Thursday 6 May, and as the public headed out to polling stations across the district, extra measures were in place to ensure COVID-safety. Polling staff sat behind protective screens and wore facemasks, with surfaces wiped down regularly in the polling booths and on the ballot boxes between votes. The number of voters allowed in a polling station at any one time was limited and some smaller polling stations operated a one-in, one-out system.

Votes for the local elections were verified and counted at Penrith Leisure Centre on Friday 7 May.
