Have your say on Eden’s housing and economic needs
Residents and businesses in Eden are being invited to have their say on future housing provision and economic growth in the district.
The district’s Strategic Housing and Economic Needs Assessment (SHENA) outlines the number and type of new dwellings and employment land needed to meet housing demand and support job growth over the next twenty years, to 2040. This draft report focuses principally on the areas of Eden that do not lie within the National Parks.
Consultants, Turley Associates, in partnership with Edge Analytics, has assessed many factors using new Government policy and guidance to calculate the district’s housing and employment needs.
Public consultation is an important part of the draft report, which will be used to inform an early review of the Council’s Local Plan. The Council is therefore consulting on the document for four weeks from Friday 13 November to Friday 11 December 2020.
Residents, businesses and industry are invited to have their say on the draft report. All comments received will be passed to the consultants for their consideration before the final report is produced.
The draft report can be viewed online at: www.eden.gov.uk/shena
Comments should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to: Planning Policy Team, Eden District Council, Mansion House, Penrith, Cumbria, CA11 7YG. However, as Eden District Council’s Planning staff are currently working remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions, it would be helpful if responses could be sent by email, if possible. Any representations may include a request to be notified of when the final report has been published.
The deadline for responses is 11:59pm on Friday 11 December 2020, and further details are available from Eden District Council’s Planning Policy team on 01768 817817.
The SHENA forms part of the evidence base for a number of strategic documents including Eden’s Housing Strategy 2020-2025, which the Council will be consulting upon shortly.
