Faster connections with broadband upgrade fund
Homes and businesses in Eden could benefit from improved broadband as part of a group voucher scheme.
Premises with broadband speeds of less than 100Mbps can use vouchers worth up to £3,000 per home and up to £7,000 for each small to medium-sized business to support the cost of installing new fast and reliable connections, thanks to the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal.
This is one of the first projects to be launched following an agreement between the Borderlands Partnership and the UK and Scottish Governments in July 2019.
Homes and businesses can use vouchers to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections when part of a group scheme. Group projects are when two or more residents or businesses get together to combine their vouchers towards the shared cost of installation.
You can register your interest in receiving a broadband upgrade by visiting the government website broadband-upgrade-fund.campaign.gov.uk.
By following the link, you can also register your interest in becoming a community lead, encouraging fellow local residents to sign up to the scheme.
The broadband upgrades are run as Community Upgrades and require a number of people in the same vicinity to be interested.
Support and guidance will be made available to community leads. For more information, you can email CumbriaBroadbandHCForum@gmail.com
