Great performances by schools at Chairman’s Carol Service

Armathwaite School pupils performing at the Chairman's Carol ConcertExcellent musical performances by two local schools made for an enjoyable evening at Eden District Council’s Chairman’s Carol Service, held at St Andrew’s Church in Penrith on Monday 11 December 2017.

The concert was organised to raise money for Council Chairman Mary Robinson’s chosen charities Hospice at Home and the Great North Air Ambulance. A collection at the service raised over £335 which will be split between equally between these two worthwhile causes.

Councillor Mary Robinson, said: "The Carol Service was a great evening and pupils from Armathwaite School, Ullswater Community College and of course members of Penrith Town Band gave exceptional musical performances. On what was a very cold evening, I would like to thank all those who attended the service and who gave so generously to support my chosen charities.

"Praise is also due to the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Alistair Wannop, Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall and the Revered David Sargent for taking part in the service. I would also like to thank Councillor John Thompson, Charlotte Ferguson and Council Officer, Louise Fawcett for their help organising the service."

Refreshments after the service were kindly provided by Greggs and Cranstons. Local community radio station Eden FM broadcast the Carol Service live and it will also be part of the station’s Christmas programming on 107.5FM or online at
