English Tourism Week Hamper Competition
To mark this year’s English Tourism Week which runs from 25 March – 2 April, Eden Tourism have teamed up with a range of local food and drink producers around the Eden Valley, North Pennines and Ullswater to offer the public a mouth-watering chance to win a special hamper.
The winner of the hamper will have the chance to sample some of the best local food and drink in Eden. Appleby Creamery, Kennedys Fine Chocolates, Country Flavour, Cumberland Mustard, J&J Graham, Mr Vikkis Chilli, Penrith Toffee Shop, Marmalade from Dalemain, Fiends Fell Pantry, Traybakes, Magnificent Marshmallow Company, Cranstons, Little Salkeld Watermill, Appleby Brewery and Eden Brewery are all donating a contribution to the hamper.
“We are delighted that so many Eden based food and drink producers have contributed to this special hamper competition,” said Charlie Thornton – Tourism Development Manager at Eden District Council. “Running in conjunction with this year’s English Tourism Week we hope the competition will stimulate people’s appetites to discover just how many mouth-watering things there are to see and do in this amazing corner of Cumbria.”
Food and drink are vital ingredients to Eden’s tourism economy which attracted a staggering 4.64 million people in 2016. Eden’s towns and villages offer lots of opportunities to sample what’s on offer from pubs, restaurants and cafes not forgetting the area’s renowned local Farmers’ Markets held on a regular basis in Brough, Penrith and Orton. Eden also has some great Farm Shops which sell fantastic locally sourced high quality produce.
Why not visit one of these during English Tourism Week? For more information on Eden’s wonderful local produce please look at the Visit Eden website – www.visiteden.co.uk – or call into one of the area’s Tourist Information Centres.
