Eden District Council's Polling Stations Review

Eden District Council wants local people’s views on its list of polling places for people to vote in forthcoming elections.

The council is legally required to update its list of polling places and polling stations. Polling places and stations are the buildings and rooms designated for people to cast their votes.

The review will enable people to raise issues such as access problems. The review also accounts for any buildings which cannot continue to be used for polling or new premises which become available.

All voters within the Penrith and The Border constituency, and any persons who have expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability are invited to contribute to the public consultation.

The purpose of the review is to ensure that the facilities for voting are practicable and meet the requirements for disabled access. The review will also seek to ensure that polling places are within the polling district unless special circumstances exist

The list of proposed polling places and other documents can be viewed on Eden District Council’s website or at the Town Hall and Mansion House in Penrith, as well as at Alston Town Hall and Kirkby Stephen Old Grammar School.

Views must be submitted in writing by 5pm on 30 September 2019 or emailed to elections@eden.gov.uk
