Eden celebrates NHS turning 70

Penrith Town Hall lit up blue at night for the NHS 70th Birthday celebrationsEden District Council is joining in the celebrations for the National Health Service turning 70 this week by flying a special flag at the Town Hall in Penrith all week and lighting the front windows of the Town Hall with blue lights on the evening of Thursday 5 July 2018 to mark this special birthday.

Across the nation organisations will be showing their support to the NHS turning 70 in lots of different ways. Council officers have also held an NHS themed cake sale on Thursday the 5 July, which has so far raised over £200 with all donations going to support the Council Chairman’s chosen charities Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakes, the Great North Air Ambulance and Penrith and District Mountain Rescue. 

Staff will also be showing their collective support for the NHS by wearing blue coloured clothing on the 5 July 2018.
