Constructive advice helps public at Building Control surgery

Local residents and tradesman benefited from the professional advice that was available at a Building Control Surgery run by Eden District Council and Penrith Building Supplies this week.

The event was held on Tuesday 25 July at Penrith Building Supplies premises on Stalker Road on the Gilwilly Industrial Estate in Penrith.Building Control Stand at surgery event held at Penrith Building Supplies.

A variety of free information and advice was available for people attending the surgery on all kinds of building matters, from extending your home, to changing windows or doors, or for tradespeople needing information about the type of permission required for construction jobs they may be considering undertaking.

Eden District Council’s Building Control Manager, Alaistair Richmond, said: “The Building Control Surgery was a good day, with an opportunity for us to meet the public and tradespeople and answer their queries face to face. I would like to thank Penrith Building Supplies for hosting the event, the manufacturers who attended with trade stands and Eden FM for covering the surgery with an outside broadcast. This is certainly an initiative we will look to build on in the future.”

Eden District Council’s Building Control Team receives and deals with around 700 building regulations applications per annum, these can vary from replacement windows or doors, to housing sites with hundreds of new homes, to large commercial buildings. By working with the Building Control Team at your local Council, you will receive professional advice and can be reassured that building works are being carried out to the appropriate industry standards.
