Job summary

We have a temporary vacancy for a part-time Revenue Officer.

Working in a busy environment the successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining council tax and business rate records where there are changes to occupation, discounts, exemptions, methods of payment and other details.

Duties include handling customer enquiries and requests both in person and by telephone.  Excellent customer care and communication skills are essential in this role, especially when dealing with vulnerable or distressed customers.  As a part of a small team you must be reliable and flexible in your approach to work.

Applicants should have a good standard of education, preferably at least a Level 2 qualification or equivalent (under the National Qualification Framework) in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalents.  Knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates work is required as is the ability to work methodically and pay attention to detail.  However, applicants who demonstrate potential but who do not possess all the essential skills (as detailed in the job description) may be considered for a training programme.

Working pattern is Monday and Friday each week with an additional half day every other week (or alternatively extended days on Monday and Friday).
