We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individual to join our Member Services team. This is an exciting role at the heart of local democracy in Eden.
This post involves working directly with Elected Members so the successful applicant must have the ability to work in a politically sensitive environment. The post will require some evening working to attend meetings.
The Members Services Team supports Democratic Services, the Council’s Scrutiny function and the administration of Freedom of Information requests. This will involve the preparation of the Council’s agendas and minutes as well as providing advice to Elected Members, Officers and the public about the democratic process. Applicants would need to be available to provide democratic services support to evening meetings, which are shared across the team. Applicants must have the ability to gather information from a range of sources and then translate this information into jargon free advice. You should also have excellent organisational skills in order to work on multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
The successful applicant will also be involved in delivering the Council’s exciting and varied programme of Scrutiny reviews which will involve undertaking research projects topics and producing reports on behalf of Elected Members. You should have excellent research skills and the ability to prepare complex reports; experience of undertaking consultation exercises would also be desirable.
You will have a good standard of education and excellent IT skills with proven experience of Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Outlook and the ability to transfer those skills to other software packages.
