The ongoing need for affordable housing that meets our local needs is a significant priority for Eden District Council.
We are looking to recruit a Housing Development Officer who can deliver excellent results and play an integral part of an evolving and innovative Council which is forward thinking and embracing new opportunities through technology and transformation.
The Council is seeking to recruit a highly motivated officer to lead on the delivery of affordable housing, and to play a key role in collecting outstanding monies owed to the Council to be used to facilitate additional affordable homes across the district.
The successful candidate will have the vision to imagine and develop new mechanisms to enable the accelerated delivery of housing. They will also have the ability to:
- understand the local need for affordable housing;
- provide high quality advice on planning issues relating to the delivery of housing, and
- enable the delivery of affordable housing, including working with private house builders.
Eden District Council covers one of the most beautiful areas in England but with much of the area consisting of small rural locations, the delivery of affordable housing remains a challenge.
The post holder will work with a wide range of partners, to ensure that they share a vision and that each contributes effectively. There is a need to work closely with colleagues in the housing team and other Council departments, together with elected Members, Parish Councils and members of the public.
