Job summary

The Council is seeking to appoint an Ecologist on a temporary contract to support the delivery and management of ecological assessment and mitigation associated to Eden District Council Service Areas.

This post will provide advice in the context of planning applications and processes and carry out Habitat Regulations Assessments. You will also provide technical advice internally and externally to the Council whilst ensuring consideration is given to the relevant National and International legislation and policies whilst incorporating opportunities for ecological / biodiversity enhancements.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive person who can gather and interpret information to produce policy documents and reports. You will be able to make effective decisions, build strong working relationships and manage a mixed workload to meet deadlines and achieve set outcomes. You will hold a degree in Ecology or a related discipline and be able to demonstrate up to date practical knowledge of the EPS development licensing requirements as well as relevant experience of ecological field survey work, including protected species, habitat and vegetation surveys.
