Job summary

The prime aim of this post is to provide a friendly, efficient and effective customer service for the customers of Eden District Council.  Duties include handling a wide range of enquires and requests both at our reception desks and through the Council’s Contact Centre.  The post also includes managing mail, providing an internal mail system, corporate printing of agenda’s etc. and various administrative duties for service offices.

Applicants must have a minimum Level 2 equivalent qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (e.g. GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics).  Please note that proof of qualifications will be required should you be offered the role. In addition to this, you should also possess good understanding of a quality customer service and demonstrable good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. You will also have an excellent telephone manner, experience of team working, be computer literate with good keyboard skills and be flexible and willing to undertake a range of tasks on a rota basis.  Working as part of a small team, you must also be conscientious and dependable.

Any experience of working in a Contact Centre, Customer Services or in Local Government would be useful, but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
