Our response

Response

Questions 1 and 2:

Our response is £0 for calendar year 2016, 2017 and 2018.

We have taken the question to mean how much money did the Council actually receive during these years for providing the stray dog service. However, the Council does not receive any money from the fees or charges of reuniting stray dogs with their owners. All monies/fees/charges received by the Council for the stray dog service is broken down and paid to the relevant parties for the service they provided in the reunification of that dog, eg:

  • £25 Statutory fee to central Government
  • Fee per night for kennelling, fully repaid to the kennels
  • Contractor collection fee, fully repaid to the Contractor
  • Vet fees as required, fully repaid to the Veterinary centre

If our understanding of this question is incorrect, please contact the Freedom of Information team to provide clarification.
