  1. For each year from 2005/2006 to 2018/2019 could you please tell me the total number of w.t.e (whole time equivalent) dog wardens you employ?

The Council doesn't actually employ dog wardens, it currently has a Senior Community Warden (1.0 fte) and a Community Warden (1.0 fte). In January 2008 the Council had 2 Community Warden posts and in October 2013 one post was uplifted to the senior role. The community wardens are responsible for delivering a range of functions and activities to improve Eden's local environment. One of those activities is to ensure that a first rate Stray dog service is delivered and to be the lead officer for matters relating to dogs and dog issues including responsible dog ownership.

  2. For each year from 2005/6 to 2018/19 how many Commercial Breeding Establishments are there for dogs? (Commercial Breeding Establishments defined as 5 or more litters per year).

Please note there is a difference in the definition used by the applicant and Eden District Council. Eden District Council's definition of a 'Commercial Breeder' is not defined as 5 or more litters per year, that is not a definition that we have ever been aware of. The breeders we have may have had less than 5 litters but they are 'Commercial' - advertising and selling puppies at a profit. We do not record information about the number of litters a year. The definition changed in Oct 2018 previously to that it was more than three litters. Now there is now no specified number of litters to determine if you are a commercial breeder.
