My questions relate to this story: 'No council cash for new free schools in Manchester' on the Schools Week website.
I understand that from 2016-17, councils have had to pay for free schools from when they open, even if they are not established as a result of a “basic need” identified by local officials.
- The names of all the free schools which were opened both as the result of a “basic need” identified by local officials and those which opened not as the result of a “basic need” identified by local officials, please, for each of the years 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 (as academic years if possible.)
- How much money the council provided to each school (including both the free schools opened as a result of basic need and not opened as a result of basic need).
- Please indicate if the council failed to fully fund any of the schools or refused to fund any of the free schools, and by how much they were not funded.
Please note that as a district council we do not have responsibility for schools. See Freedom of Information at Cumbria County Council to redirect your query using their website.
