Does your council provide loans to small companies? Eden District Council has a loan scheme ‘Eden Business Support Fund’ which is run in partnership with Enterprise Answers, a Community Development Finance Institution, offering loans of £10,000-£100,000 to eligible businesses.

Does your authority subsidise business rates for charity shops? Yes, Charity shops are eligible for mandatory relief, but only where the majority of the goods for sale are donated.

Does your authority require malls to provide affordable space for small traders? No, however there are no ‘malls’ in Eden

Does your town centre have a process to carry out regular health checks to assess performance? Yes, Eden District Council conduct a yearly health check for each of the 4 towns in Eden to monitor performance against previous years and compare on a national level.
