Matterdale Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

Information statement

We held a referendum on 15 October 2015, relating to the adoption of the Matterdale Neighbourhood Plan.

The question we asked in the Referendum was 'Do you want the Lake District National Park Authority to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Matterdale Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?'

The Matterdale Parish map (PDF: 1Mb) on the Lake District National Park website identifies the Referendum area, which is included with this information statement.

The Referendum area is identical to the area designated as the Matterdale Parish area.

A person was entitled to vote in the Referendum if on 1 September 2015

  • he or she was entitled to vote in an election of any Councillor of Eden District Council whose area is in the Referendum area; and
  • his or her qualifying address for the election was in the Referendum area. A persons qualifying address is, in relation to a person registered in the register of electors, the address in respect of which he or she was entitled to be so registered.

The Referendum expenses limit applied in relation to the Referendum was £2,379.82. The number of persons entitled to vote in the Referendum by reference to that limit calculated was 336.

We conducted the Referendum in accordance with procedures, which are similar to those used at local government elections.
