Parish ward by-elections 6 May 2021
The by-elections for Alston and Penrith parish wards will take place on Thursday 6 May 2021.
Alston Town Council by-elections are to fill vacancies in the following parish wards:
- Alston (Alston ward) 4 seats
- Alston (Garrigill ward) 1 seat
- Alston (Nenthead ward) 1 seat
Anyone who would like to stand as a candidate for these wards will need to complete a nomination paper. Nominations can be accepted from 25 March 2021 until 4.00pm on the 8 April 2021.
Penrith Town Council
Penrith Town Council by-election is to fill a vacancy for one seat in the Pategill ward.
Anyone who would like to stand as a candidate for this ward will need to complete a nomination paper. Nominations can be accepted from 25 March 2021 until 4.00pm on the 8 April 2021.
Change of polling station for Pategill ward
The polling station for Pategill ward will be temporarily moving. The polling station for the elections on the 6 May 2021 only will be at the Rugby Club, Winters Park. Electors will receive a letter with information about why the polling station is moving. Electors for Pategill will still receive poll cards with information about their polling station. Anyone who is registered to vote and is unable to go to the new polling station can apply for a postal or proxy vote.
Information for candidates and agents
Nomination forms can be obtained from the Electoral Commission website together with guidance about campaigning under Covid conditions. Alternatively the same nomination paper can be emailed to you directly for printing. We will not be producing separate nomination packs. A copy of the relevant register will be provided at the appropriate time. Please contact the elections office for more information about nominations. If you do not want to or can't vote at a polling station anyone registered to vote can apply for a postal or proxy vote.
