UK Parliamentary General Election

The UK Parliamentary General Election will be held on Thursday 12 December 2019. This will elect a Member of Parliament to represent the Penrith and The Border Constituency.

Register to vote, voting by post or proxy.

To vote in the election you must be registered. The Penrith and the Border constituency covers 3 local authorities, Eden, Allerdale and rural Carlisle (not Carlisle city). It is important that you register to take part in this election. 

You can register online on GOV.UK. The quickest way to register is online, you will need your national insurance number to do this. If you have registered recently you do not have to register again for this election. If you want to check that you are registered, or request a postal or proxy vote application form you need to apply to the correct local authority.

Voting in person

If you vote in person the information about the polling station you should attend will be on the polling card. Please be aware that for this election your polling station may have changed. Please check your polling card carefully.

Nominations

Go to UK Parliamentary General Election on the Electoral Commission website to download a nomination form or read the guidance for candidates.

Return nominations to the Acting Returning Officer at the address below on any day after the date of the notice of election but no later than 4pm on 14 November 2019. Arrange appointments for delivery of papers by contacting the elections office.
