Westmorland and Furness Council recognises the benefits of self-build and custom house building in meeting the housing needs of its residents. By submitting this form, you are applying to be entered onto the Self-build and Custom House Building Register to record your interest in acquiring a serviced plot of land to build a house to occupy as your sole or main residence in the Eden area. The Self-build and Custom House Building Register will also provide an indication of demand for self and custom-build in our area that can be used when developing housing and planning policies.
The Council will publish aggregated data from the register on an annual basis, but personal information will not be disclosed to any third party and any personal information provided will be used by us solely for the purpose of the Self-build and Custom House Building Register. Eligibility criteria
If you comply with the following criteria, you will be added to the Register. Each individual applicant, and every member of an association of individuals, that applies for entry on the register must be:
- Aged 18 or older.
- A British citizen, a national of an EEA State other than the United Kingdom, or a national of Switzerland.
- Seeking (either alone or with others) to acquire a serviced plot of land within the Eden district to build a house that will then be their sole or main residence.
