Informal consultation on evidence base
We published our three planning policy documents on Friday, 24 July 2015 and asked for any views on these documents. Two are technical reports setting out the evidence that will inform our new local plan, and a further document considers proposed changes to our settlement hierarchy:
-
Our Taking Stock - Part 1-4 (PDF: 2Mb / 96 pages) and Taking Stock - Part 5 Report (PDF: 1Mb / 95 pages) (also known as our Strategic Housing Market Assessment, or SHMA). This looks at the overall need for new housing in the district up to the year 2032, as well as the sizes, types and tenures that may be needed over that period.

-
Our Land Availability Assessment (LAA) (PDF: 4Mb / 139 pages). This catalogues all of the suitable land that might be available for new housing and takes a view on whether and when it may be developed.

-
A further document Proposed Changes to the Draft Settlement Hierarchy (PDF: 234 Kb / 10 pages) details some changes to lists of villages that may be suitable for new housing and why these are being proposed.
Copies of the documents are available to view online using the links above, or alternatively, copies are available at Alston local links centre, Kirkby Stephon local links and libraries, as well as the Receptions at the Town Hall and Mansion House in Penrith.
