Background to the Eden Local Plan Examination

We submitted the Eden Local Plan 2014 to 2032 to the Planning Inspectorate on Wednesday, 23 December 2015, which marked the start of the Local Plan Examination. The Examination ended on the 19 September, 2018 with the receipt of the Inspector’s final report (PDF: 235Kb / 25 pages).

The Local Plan was adopted at the Full Council meeting on 11 October, 2018.

Inspector Melvyn Middleton, BA(Econ) DipTP Dip Mgmt MRTPI, conducted the Examination to determine whether the Local Plan is sound and to issue a report with his findings.

A series of public hearings chaired by the Inspector commenced on Monday, 9 May 2016 and resumed during July 2016. A third series of hearings took place between Monday, 12 September 2016 and Thursday, 15 September 2016. Following the interim Eden Local Plan consultation exercise, which ended on 10 April, 2017, a further short series of hearings took place on 2 and 3 May 2017.
