Pavements that form part of the public highway in Eden are maintained by Cumbria Highways on behalf of Cumbria County Council.
Pavements sometimes become obstructed by street works, roadworks, skips, scaffolds, hoardings, advertising boards, or building materials. If these works block the pavement so pedestrians, prams, or wheelchairs cannot pass by, they are obstructing it.
How to report an obstructed pavement
You need to know the location of the obstructed pavement, the name of the street, or postcode, then telephone the Cumbria Highways Hotline on 0300 303 2992 to report the problem.
If the pavement is blocked by a vehicle you need to telephone the Police on 101.
Problems with pavements can be caused by many things, vehicles driving over them, weeds, missing flags, manholes, standing water, or uneven or slippery surfaces.
