Eden Life in Lockdown

Sharing our experiences of COVID-19 in the Eden Valley.

We are currently living through a defining moment in time, for the world and our local community. It is our ambition as a museum to collect the story of Eden during this extraordinary time. We would love you to help us with this.

Lockdown road sign mounted on a bike 'Stop at yam tek care'The museum would like to build a collection of signs created by you during lockdown, for example:

  • Shop signage
  • Rainbows in windows
  • Signage around villages and towns of instructions or community support

Images of what you have been doing and how life has changed for you, for example:

  • Home schooling
  • Getting creative
  • Gardening
  • Working from home
  • Baking
  • Going to work wearing PPE
  • Volunteering

We are currently only collecting digital images.

We would ask you to provide us with: your name, address, the date and location, and who took the image. We may contact you at a later date to ask for further information. We will accession the image into the museum's permanent social history collection. By sending us the image, you are happy for us to do this. The museum will then be able to use the image in future displays or exhibitions.

Thank you for being part of our community collecting project.

Please send your digital images to museum@eden.gov.uk, or join our Facebook group, where you can share your images, called 'Eden Life in Lockdown - Sharing our Experience of COVID-19 in the Eden Valley.’

We would like to use this group as a way of connecting all areas of our local community, and highlighting the fantastic community response.

Please go to our Facebook page @Penrithmuseum and join the group.

We ask that you follow all government guidelines about travel and social distancing and request that no-one breaks the rules to go to take photographs to share in this group. Thank you for sharing in this community space.
