Green homes grant

We were successful in our bids to Central Government, for Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery (LAD) Scheme funding.

Eden district now has its own Green Homes Grant (LAD) Schemes. We are now accessing funding from Central Government, to install insulation and low carbon heat measures. We are working with E.ON throughout these two schemes to will deliver these measures.

Eden’s Green Homes Grant (LAD) schemes phase 1 and 2

Phase 1 of Eden’s Green Homes Grant (LAD) Scheme will now run to July 2022, although applicants should now be aware that we have reached the limit for solar panel installations in Eden. Phase 2, starting in January 2022 is now at capacity. However, the next round of funding, Sustainable Warmth, is launching in June.

Go to Sustainable Warmth Cumbria Grants on the Carlisle City Council website for more information and expression of interest forms.

Frequently asked questions

My income is just over £30,000 am I still eligible to apply?
Although you may not meet the criteria for the Green Homes Grant, you can still apply.  Call E.ON and they will assess whether they will admit you to the scheme. E.ON can also tell you on other schemes that you may be eligible for.  You can also fill out an Expression of Interest Form to check your eligibility for Sustainable Warmth as above.

I live in social housing or a privately rented property, can I apply?
Although you wouldn’t be eligible for Green Homes Grant Scheme phase 1, you will be eligible for Sustainable Warmth which will commence in July. You can apply now with E.ON for phase 1 and can submit an expression of interest with Carlisle City Council for Sustainable Warmth at the link at the top of the page.

Can I apply for both phase 1 and Sustainable Warmth
, the Green Homes Grant schemes have been set up so that residents can get multiple measures installed as the scheme progresses. For example, you could have loft insulation or external wall insulation in phase 1 of the scheme and then an air source heat pump or solar pv installed through Sustainable Warmth. This is still subject to your EPC and household income, meaning that if these change dramatically from phase 1 to Sustainable Warmth you may not be eligible. Despite this, you may be eligible for other schemes currently available or future schemes.

Why are you only offering these energy efficiency measures?
Central Government’s energy related schemes all offer the same energy efficiency measures designed to tackle cold homes whilst reducing carbon emissions. Primary measures include the installation of insulation measures, for example: loft insulation, and secondary measures heating. More measures maybe available through Sustainable Warmth

How will you ensure COVID-19 safety during any installation work at my property?
E.ON follows a thorough COVID-19 risk assessment process, during all visits to your home and whilst installation occurs. For instance, wearing face masking and wiping down all surfaces before and after touching anything. E.ON will work with you and can postpone if you are self-isolating. E.ON will ask you before an appointment if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. Also, if you have recently tested positive, whereby your appointment can be re-arranged.

Is the work inspected at the end to make sure it’s all done properly and safely?
E.ON will give you a guarantee for all major works and will provide support following completion of your installation.

Why are you not offering gas or oil central heating?
The focus of these schemes is to offer measures that are both energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions.

I need help with my energy bills and I’m struggling to keep warm, can you help me?
E.ON can offer debt and fuel advice.
