Directions by car to council offices in Penrith
From the A6 north of Penrith
To Town Hall
- On entering Penrith keep on A6 down Scotland Road
- Keep straight at the mini roundabout still on Scotland Road, which becomes Stricklandgate
- After the give way sign take a left onto Portland Place with the Town Hall on your right.
- At the next crossroad take a right onto Meeting House Lane.
- On Meeting House Lane turn right after Lowther Terrace.
- In the car park continue straight the sandstone building ahead is the rear of the Town Hall.
- Walk to the left of the Town Hall for the public entrance.
- Ask for car parking disc at reception.
To Mansion House (CLOSED)
- On entering Penrith keep on A6 down Scotland Road
- Keep straight at the mini roundabout still on Scotland Road, which becomes Stricklandgate.
- Continue straight past Penrith Town Hall on your left the road curves slightly right then left to Middlegate and town centre.
- Go through town centre following the road to the left hand side of Monument clock onto King Street.
- After Marks and Spencer's take first left onto Old London Road veer slightly left onto Friargate.
- Turn left at car park for entrance to Mansion House car park.
- Ask for car parking disc at reception.
From M6 Junction 40 and A66 west (roundabout to the west of Penrith)
To Town Hall
- Leave M6 at junction 40 for Penrith
- Take the A592, Ullswater road into Penrith past North Lakes Hotel.
- Take second exit on next roundabout for Penrith town centre A592 Ullswater Road.
- After railway station take left at roundabout onto Cromwell road.
- Then second exit at next roundabout onto Brunswick Road.
- At the end of Brunswick Road follow the one way system round doubling back on yourself onto Stricklandgate.
- Turn left onto Portland Place with the Town Hall on your right.
- At the next crossroad take a right onto Meeting House Lane.
- On Meeting House Lane turn right after Lowther Terrace.
- In the car park continue straight the sandstone building ahead is the rear of the Town Hall.
- Walk to the left of the Town Hall for the public entrance.
- Ask for car parking disc at reception.
To Mansion House (CLOSED)
- Leave M6 at junction 40 for Penrith.
- On roundabout take exit for Brough A66.
- Continue on A66 to next roundabout.
- On roundabout take first exit for Penrith A6 onto Bridge Lane.
- Continue down Bridge Lane straight on at traffic lights onto Victoria Road and straight on at the second set of traffic lights.
- Turn right after John Norris's onto Old London Road veer slightly left onto Friargate.
- Turn left at car park for entrance to Mansion House car park.
- Ask for car parking disc at reception.
From A66 East (roundabout south of Penrith)
To Town Hall
- On roundabout take third exit for Penrith A6 onto Bridge Lane.
- Continue down Bridge Lane straight on at traffic lights onto Victoria Road.
- Continue on Victoria road and straight onto King Street for town centre.
- Take the road to the left of Monument clock onto Castlegate A592
- Take right hand lane at the top of Castlegate and go straight at the roundabout onto Cromwell Road.
- Take second exit at next roundabout onto Brunswick Road.
- At the end of Brunswick Road follow the one way system round doubling back on yourself onto Stricklandgate.
- Turn left onto Portland Place with the Town Hall on your right.
- At the next crossroad take a right onto Meeting House Lane.
