Eden residents COVID-19 support fund
We have set up a £150,000 fund, to support people experiencing hardship because of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The support fund is to boost local organisations and charities that are helping families through the crisis. The fund is open to local organisations, charities and Eden Parish Councils who are already assisting individuals or families or who have the capacity to oversee the careful distribution of funding, to those suffering extreme hardship due to Covid-19. Applying organisations need to show previous experience of supporting residents within Eden in times of hardship and need.
COVID-19 support fund terms and guidance
Local organisations and charities can apply for up to £5,000 of funding per application. They can apply for additional finance from the fund, but will need to complete a new form for each application.
Guidance for distributing funding
We will rely on the local organisations and charities receiving funding to use their own judgement as to how the finance can best support individuals and families, but examples of expenditure may include the following:
- Provision of food.
- Funeral expenses.
- Fuel bills.
- Telephone fees.
- One-off transport costs to cover exceptional circumstances.
- Additional accommodation costs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Emergency residential building safety or security work.
- White goods and other essential equipment and appliances.
We do not require detailed records of organisations or charity spending. However, we may approach organisations to understand how individuals or families are benefiting from the funding support. As well as being a resident of Eden, ideally, any beneficiaries would be able to:
- Demonstrate a loss of income due to COVID-19.
- A named recipient must be over 18 years old, although the benefit can be for a family.
- Have limited savings.

In order to distribute the funding as quickly as possible, we will consider applications on a regular basis and let applicants know about the outcome.
We will notify unsuccessful applicants by email. Successful applications will receive an offer letter.
