Market stallholder information is to help current and potential stallholders attending our weekly markets in Penrith and Appleby.
We welcome additional stallholders especially those keen to try a new business when we can offer business support to get you started.
Appleby and Penrith market traders
Are required to :
Provide their own stall equipment.
Have current public liability insurance.
Complete either the:
Appleby Saturday market stallholder registration form (Word Document: 153Kb / 2 pages)
and / or Penrith Tuesday market stallholder registration form (Word Document: 754Kb / 2 pages)
Penrith market traders must also complete the Penrith Tuesday market stallholder booking form (Word Document: 157Kb / 1 page)
Details provided may be shared with other authorised bodies, such as the Inland Revenue, the Police, Trading Standards and Environmental Health.
How will market stall holder's pitches be allocated?
New 'casual' traders will be allocated an available pitch by our representatives.
What goods can be sold on market stalls?
Stallholders will only be permitted to sell goods detailed in the registration form and goods we have agreed they can sell.
Appropriate Licenses must be obtained from us and regulations followed for Health and Safety.
How much does a market pitch cost?
Pitch fees are set by us on an annual basis.
Penrith Tuesday market, Cornmarket
April to March = Standard Pitch £4.10 per metre (equivalent to £1.25 per linear foot)Bandstand (covered) £4.92 per metre (equivalent to £1.50 per linear foot)
Appleby Saturday market, Market Square
April to October = £4.43 per metre (equivalent to £1.35 per linear foot)
November to March = £3.77 (equivalent to £1.15 per linear foot)
The preferred method of payment is by crossed cheque, payable to 'Eden District Council'.
