Household appliance collection

We will collect all electrical appliances including microwave ovens and larger appliances from domestic properties only. For details of this, and how to dispose of old and broken items, please see below.

Can the electrical appliance be reused?

Reusable items

Where possible, try to make sure any electrical appliance you have is reused. You can advertise items on Freegle, or take them to charities. Charities also collect items free of charge.

Freegle

Advertise items on the Penrith and Eden District Freegle website, free of charge, for appliances you are happy to give away.

Eden Valley Hospice

View the furniture shop location on the Eden Valley Hospice website, where you can take unwanted appliances to donate to the hospice, for them to sell to raise funds for the work they do.

British Heart Foundation

Damaged or broken items

You can take and dispose of damaged or broken appliances at a household waste recycling centre.

Household electrical appliance collection scheme

We offer a household electrical appliance collection from domestic properties, at a cost of £29.70 per item for:

  • computer monitors
  • electrical cookers
  • fridges
  • freezers
  • microwave ovens
  • televisions
  • tumble dryers
  • washing machines.

You must pre-book a collection. Collection of electrical appliances is generally on a Tuesday. We will provide a firm collection date when you place your order. All items need to be outside the property, at the kerbside, or edge of the highway, if there is sufficient room to do so.
