A new website for the digital transformation age

This website was launched on Thursday 2 March it has a simplified design for ease of use on any device.

We have changed the website navigation adding pay, apply and report buttons where you can find them easily and moved the most used links nearer the top of web pages.

All the information that was on our old website is still there, it hasn’t really moved around too much. If you can’t find what you are looking for you could make use of the search, the A to Z or the site map.

The popular ‘My Eden’ is now called ‘Your Area’ and you can search for a variety of information using your postcode.

We are continuing to use the forms that were on the old site, so you won’t see a change there immediately, that is the next step in the transformation project. You will still be able to pay your council tax or report dog fouling online for example as you have before.

In developing this new website we looked at other successful council websites, listened to expert advice and guidance and used a larger text size for ease of reading. A handful of staff moved the content onto the new site and were advised and assisted by our digital transformation suppliers Meritec.

Most councils are going through a digital transformation process that aims to link all the information they hold together so it can be used more easily. Our digital transformation is a shared project with South Lakeland District Council.

‘Contact Eden’ the name given to digital transformation project currently includes plans for a new computer systems for customer services, planning, building control and land charges services.

The launch of this new website is the first milestone in the ‘Contact Eden’ digital transformation project and the start for us to radically improve how services are delivered to all our customers.
