Credit Crunch: Housing

Housing Advice available from us

The Credit Crunch may affect your housing situation, we have compiled some information that may help you.

  • Homelessness: we are responsible for dealing with homelessness and giving housing advice.

  • The Housing Register: is a waiting list of people who require housing for rent. To join the Housing Register, applicants must complete a housing application form available from Eden Housing Association.

  • Housing: although we have no Council owned houses we do offer housing advice to residents of Eden, see housing for more information. We also work in partnership with a range of Registered Social Landlords (RSL's) and specialist agencies to house people.

  • Housing Associations: there are various associations that operate in Eden, see Housing Associations for contact details.

  • Housing Grants are available from us. A Decent Homes Grant is for home owners who need to do essential repairs.

Housing Advice provided by other Agencies

  • Citizens Advice Bureau has three offices across Eden, based in Penrith, Appleby and Alston. Advice is available face-to-face and by telephone. Most of the Bureaux offer home visits and often provide email advice. The organisation also has a significant amount of helpful information on its website.

  • Shelter the housing and homelessness charity also provides advice on housing, welfare benefits and debt. They can be contacted on 0344 5151945.
