Statistics, facts, numbers and records are all forms of data.
We need accurate data to help make informed decisions. To see how decisions are made see the Decision Making Process.
Data is used to monitor our performance. To find out more visit the Council Performance Indicators.
Data is also reported to government inspectors and used to assess the Council. The Comprehensive Area Assessment used data as part of its assessment criteria but was abolished by the new government in May 2010.
Our approach to data is that we get it right first time.
Data Quality Policy
The Data Quality Policy 2009 (PDF: 270Kb / 12 pages) is refreshed every two years and contains an action plan to ensure the necessary arrangements are in place to produce accurate data. Our policy was approved in 2007 and then revised in 2009.
