Comprehensive Area Assessment, or CAA, assessed local public services in England until May 2010 when it was abolished by Central Government.
It examined how well councils were working together with other public bodies to meet the needs of the people they serve and was a joint assessment made by a group of six independent watchdogs, overseen by the Audit Commission. Assessments provided the public with a snapshot of the quality of life within the area and are available to view at the oneplace website.
CAA replaced the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) in 2009. The CPA was focussed on individual organisation performance rather than looking at the whole area. Results of how the Council performed in the CPA are available from the Audit Commission website.
