All the resources that we use come from the public, either directly from Council Tax, or indirectly from central government. It is therefore essential that every council can show that it uses its resources in an efficient way and one that is shown to give Value for Money. Our Efficiency and Value for Money Policy (274Kb / 7 pages)is a clear statement of how we seek to operate in an efficient way.
As part of the annual audit, the external auditor is required to state whether, or not, a council has in place, ‘arrangements for securing efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources'. The external auditor made the following statement:
"I have undertaken my audit in accordance with the Code of Audit Practice and having regard to the criteria for principal local authorities specified by the Audit Commission and published in May 2008 and updated in October 2009 and the supporting guidance, I am satisfied that, in all significant respects, Eden District Council made proper arrangements to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources for the year ended 31 March 2010."
