Eden District Council’s Recycling Team will be setting up stall in a town near you soon! Over the next few weeks, they will be hosting a number of roadshows across the District to promote the new Kerbside Bag and Box scheme. The shows are being held over the three weeks prior to the start of the new scheme on Monday 2 July 2012.
The scheme will replace the existing kerbside green box and kerbside paper and card collections operating for the majority of households in Eden until the end of June.
Eden District Council’s Environment Portfolio Holder, Mike Tonkin, said: “We are delighted to be able offer Eden residents an enhanced recycling service across the District. We are broadening the range of materials we collect and extending the service to areas where households presently have no kerbside provision.
“Eden’s current recycling rate is 45%; under the new scheme all households in the District will be able to recycle plastic bottles and containers, cans, glass jars and bottles and paper and card from their kerbside. We hope this new service will increase this figure by allowing residents to choose how and where they recycle to suit their lifestyle.”
The Recycling Team will be out and about around the District at events and roadshows to inform residents about the new service and answer their questions. At the roadshows the team will be giving out recycling merchandise to encourage people to take part in the scheme and to remind everyone of that all important 2 July start date.
So come along to one of our venues for an informative and fun day out.
