With preparation for the 2012 Appleby Horse Fair already underway a public meeting is being held this month as an opportunity for local people to learn about plans for this year’s Fair (Monday, 14 May in Appleby Public Hall, 7pm-9pm).
Chair of the Fair’s multi-agency strategic coordinating group (MASCG), and Chief Executive of Eden District Council, Robin Hooper will present plans for the coming Fair (7-13 June 2012), and there will also be a presentation on the setting up of a group to represent Appleby directly on MASCG.
The meeting will be chaired by Appleby County Councillor Martin Stephenson, who said: “This is an opportunity for Appleby residents to hear about the operational planning for the Fair directly from the coordinating group.
“People will hear what new measures are in place for 2012 and details on policing arrangements, traffic management and the regulation of caravan sites, so I’d encourage everyone in the town to come along if they can.”
Following the Fair there will be a meeting on Monday 2 July (7pm to 9pm in Appleby Public Hall) to discuss how the Fair went and to offer the public an opportunity to make suggestions for the planning process for next year.
