Ideas aplenty to market Eden as a place to do business

How to market Eden District as a business destination was just one of the topics discussed by over 30 local companies at an Eden Open for Business Event, organised by the District Council’s Business Ambassador, Councillor Debra Wicks recently.

Councillor Wicks, said: “I was delighted to see so many local companies attended the second business to business event Eden has facilitated. During these challenging economic times, it is important that we are listening to and conversing with businesses to progress our economy and capitalise on every opportunity for growth that comes forward. These events are a great opportunity for businesses to network and share ideas.

“I would like to thank John Grainger, Chief Executive from Invest in Cumbria, for attending the event and making a presentation explaining what are Eden’s unique selling points and how we can all work together to market the area as a business destination. It was good to see businesses from the hospitality sector attending the event and finding out how we can help them expand. We are looking for a venue for our next event in July, which will focus on internet marketing and social media. We are also looking to work with the Upper Eden Community Project to hold a similar event in the Kirkby Stephen area.”
