Following the fire that destroyed to the Bowling Bower in Castle Park, Penrith, Eden District Council’s Executive has agreed measures for work to commence to provide temporary accommodation for Castle Park Bowls Club and Shop/Café, in time for the start of the new bowling season which commences in ten days.
Eden District Council’s Leader, Gordon Nicolson, said: “We are pulling out all the stops to help ensure that Castle Park Bowling Club has temporary accommodation in place for the start of the new season. We have been working with representatives of the Bowls Club and shop concessionaire to ensure the temporary accommodation meets their requirements.
“We appreciate the level of community support for the Castle Park Bowling Club and we will be working with the Club and local community over the coming months to secure a lasting benefit.”
The temporary buildings will be in the form of Portakabins, they will need to be lifted into Castle Park and sited on the footprint of the fire damaged building once remedial work to the foundations and services is completed. A temporary road way will need to be put down in the Park to protect it and as a result Castle Park will be closed for up to six hours whilst the Portakabins are delivered and installed.
