Eden District Council has 38 elected members and is the most sparsely populated district in England and Wales. The District area covers 830 square miles and has scenic landscapes, historic market towns, excellent tourist facilities and vibrant communities. The council’s strategic aim is: To Best Serve the People of Eden.
-
The private rented sector is important to the housing market within Eden.
-
It provides affordability, flexibility and choice.
-
Eden District Council has operated an Accreditation Scheme for some years.
-
The scheme has now been extended and improved to provide more benefits to landlords and help responsible landlords gain a competitive advantage, distancing themselves from ‘rogue landlords’.
-
This allows the Council to concentrate enforcement on the small minority of landlords who persistently break the law.
-
This protects tenants within the district and helps drive up standards as a whole.
