The excellence attendance records of staff at Eden District Council were recognised with a special presentation in the Council Chamber on Wednesday 24 June. Council officers with three years continuous service were thanked for their hand work and dedication by Council Leader, Councillor Colin Nineham, who presented each of them with a special certificate and bottle of wine.
“We have an excellent team of officers at Eden, who do sterling work. Over 35% of our staff did not take a day of sick last year and 24 officers have not had a day off sick in three years. This says a great deal about their dedication to duty.
“We have a relatively small team of officers when compared to other councils, but still delivers the same number of quality services as our bigger counter parts. So having low staff absence rates is essential to maintain services for the public. Our policies of flexible working and working from home etc, help to ensure a good work life balance for our officers and maybe the reason why they voted Eden one of the best councils to work for in in a Sunday Times Survey in 2008,” said Eden District Council’s Leader, Councillor Colin Nineham.
