To help boost the local economy and support the vitality of Penrith in the run up to Christmas Eden District Council’s Executive agreed yesterday (8 December) to make parking in Council car parks free on the two Saturdays before Christmas (12 and 19 December) and on Christmas Eve.
Councillor Keith Phillips, Leader of Eden District Council said: “Penrith has much to attract visitors and local people to the town in the busy Christmas run in. We have Festive Market events taking place in Penrith and Appleby and a vast array excellent produce and goods available in Eden’s specialist shops. We are eager to ensure trade in Penrith remains as unaffected as possible by last week’s dramatic events. By offering free parking in our car parks on the key shopping days in Penrith on the run up to Christmas, we hope to help boost the vitality of the town for local people and visitors.”
