Designated Public Place Orders (DPPO) makes it an offence to drink alcohol after being required by a police officer not to do so. Designated public place orders operate in Alston, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith.
Local Authorities have the power to make an Order under Section 13 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001. The Order, if made, will give the Police powers in relation to street drinking associated with nuisance or anti-social behaviour.
