The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 placed statutory obligations on Local Authorities and the Police to work in co-operation with Health Authorities and other relevant agencies. The objective was to develop and implement a Partnership Plan which would tackle crime and disorder in their area.
Section 97 of the Police Reform Act 2002 amended the above act and included the Police Authority, Fire Service and Primary Care Trusts as responsible authorities. Further reforms now list the Probation Service as a responsible authority and the Environment Agency and Registered Social Landlords as 'participatory bodies'.
This legislation requires the Partnership to produce an annual strategic assessment and a three year plan detailing how it intends to tackle crime and disorder. This allows for the development of strategies to tackle short, medium and long term priorities.
CSP Strategic Assessment
Knowing what the priorities are for our communities, what we have achieved as a Partnership and what we could do more effectively is vital for a safer Carlisle and Eden. The strategic assessment highlights the issues that are of most importance to our communities and enables the Partnership to identify emerging trends and plan initiatives to tackle these issues.
This document combines recorded crime data from the Police with information from a wide range of partners, including Health, Local Councils and the Fire Service. This provides us with a detailed picture of the crime, disorder and substance misuse in Carlisle and Eden.
The annual Strategic Assessment is central to the development of the Partnership Plan.
CSP Partnership Plan
The CSP Partnership Plan has been developed to provide key stakeholders and the community with an overview of the main action we will take during the 2010/2011 financial year to tackle crime, disorder and substance misuse in our area.
The plan will be reviewed periodically to ensure our work remains effective and that our priorities continue to be relevant to local needs.
The Partnership Plan offers an opportunity for all Partners to work together to meet one common aim; to maintain Carlisle and Eden as a safe place to live, work and visit.
CSP Six Month Review
In October 2009, we carried out a review on a sample of our main projects. This review aimed to show how each project is working to reduce crime and disorder throughout Carlisle and Eden and to highlight any improvements that were needed. If improvements could be made, we have worked to identify how we can overcome any difficulties and ensure the project is successful. A summary of the review can be found here.
