Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) has been one of the best weapons against crime. It has been proved effective in both cutting and detecting crime and because of this people now feel safer when they're out and about.
Together with Cumbria Constabulary we installed:
- a three camera system in Kirkby Stephen in 1998
- a four camera system in Appleby in 2000
- three new cameras and refurbished the existing ten camera system in Penrith Town Centre and Gilwilly Industrial Estate in March 2002.
The systems are owned by us and operated by Cumbria Constabulary from its headquarters at Carleton Hall Penrith.
